Basic Trail Description and special attributes:

Sugar Loaf is a spectacular and relatively easy place to reach. Most of the walk is through dry coastland but avoids narrow cliff paths. There is a well preserved series of impressive military batteries around the coast from Banks’s. The coastal path from Banks’s is narrow and on the cliff edge with loose stones and subject to active erosion making it an uncomfortable path to traverse, particularly for those afraid of heights. Some gravel slopes which are awkward to descend and a clamber to the summit; quite a long and hot walk in summer with no shade.

A detailed description of the location of the trail appears in the booklet “A description of the Post Box walks of St Helena”, issued by the St Helena Nature Conservation Group and the government of St Helena.
